About us

SAL is a tour operator specialized in Nature Tourism and Cultural Tourism. It was founded on April 1, 1996 by José Pedro Calheiros who, at the time, believed that the future development of his country would be based on nature tourism and knowledge.

All activities take place on national territory, for residents and tourists. All events preferably take place in a natural or cultural environment, and with the clear objective of creating joy and sharing knowledge with visitors and locals.

Since the summer of 1996, SAL has offered walking tours every weekend. It currently has around 210 different pedestrian routes, both natural and urban, ready to be used.

The Arrábida Territory was where it all began and where much of its hiking activity takes place, covering all the landscapes, all the points of interest and all the knowledge of this privileged region.

Founder of Rota Vicentina Association Leading Quality Trails - European Ramblers Association SAL is a founding company, having been the first tour operator to cover the entire Rota Vicentina with a program open to the public. Rota Vicentina is an association of companies and with the aim of promoting nature tourism on the Alentejo and Vicentina coast through the structuring and management of a network of signposted walking routes SAL participated in the training and structuring of the audit system that led to the "Leading Quality Trails" Seal of Quality by ERA - European Ramblers Association of the Historical Way. Vice-Chairman of the Board of the General Meeting from 2016 to 2019.
Member of the Alentejo Heritage Association Association of tourist accommodation, catering and entertainment units with a view to jointly promoting their tourist services in the national and international markets. ICNF, Instituto de Conservação da Natureza e Florestas, I.P., is an indirect administration body of the Portuguese State with the mission of contributing to the enhancement and conservation of aspects related to forestry resources and Nature and Biodiversity in Portugal.
